Metro Detroit area organizations team up to help put $1 million
back into Michigan economy
The city of Southfield will host a free educational seminar on the Neighborhood Stabilization Program on January 26 from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Southfield Public Library Auditorium located at 26300 Evergreen Road.
The seminar will provide information about the $8,000 federal Homebuyer Tax Credit available to first-time homebuyers as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Representatives from Gold Star Financial Group will discuss the tax credit calculation and deadline, criteria for qualifying and present the “Michigan Million Dollar Challenge” – their goal to provide education and assistance to at least 125 first-time homebuyers in purchasing a new home by April 30. Representatives will also be on hand to discuss the role of realtors, home insurance requirements, budget management, and property taxes and assessment.
“Michigan consumers have a unique opportunity to help themselves and the local economy by simply taking advantage of what the Federal Government is already offering,” commented Sean Cragg of Gold Star Financial, a mortgage brokerage firm licensed in 18 states with corporate headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The seminar is open to the public and no registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call NSP Records Coordinator Diana Peagler at (248) 796-5126.
