City of Southfield Parks and Recreation facilities, picnic shelters and parks may now be viewed in QuickTime Virtual Reality (VR) on the City’s Web site at www.cityofsouthfield.com.
The City’s Technology Services Department has implemented this new technology to offer users a quick and convenient way to view city recreational sites. With QuickTime VR, users can view a site as if they were standing there, allowing them a 360 degree view of a park or facility. To view a site, users must log on to the City’s Web site, select the ‘Parks & Recreation’ department from the ‘City Departments’ tab on top and then select the park or rental facility they wish to view from the navigation panel on the left. It's easy to use, just click on the park or facility and a QuickTime VR movie will load, allowing a 360 degree view of the site. Simply move the mouse over the image to click and drag around the QuickTime VR movie or users can just let it scroll automatically.
