Southfield
Emergency Management will offer monthly classes on emergency
preparedness on the last Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. beginning on
February 28 at the Emergency Management offices located in the basement
of the Southfield Parks and Recreation building, 26000 Evergreen Road.
The comprehensive
two-hour classes will provide participants with a step-by-step approach
to disaster preparedness, how to develop an emergency communication
plan, and how to identify hazards in the local area. Other topics
covered will include evacuation, emergency public shelters and
information specific to people with disabilities. The course will also
provide in-depth information on specific hazards such as floods,
tornadoes, hurricanes and thunderstorms. All participants will receive
a free disaster kit ($70 value) upon completion of the two-hour class.

future classes are scheduled for Wednesdays, March 28, April 25, May
30, June 27, July 25, August 29, September 26, October 24, November 28
