Star Spangled Southfield Fireworks set for Wednesday, June 24

                        Festivities to include Radio Disney D-Tour Show

The city of Southfield will sponsor the Star Spangled Southfield Fireworks display on Wednesday, June 24 on the front lawn of the Southfield Municipal Complex, 26000 Evergreen Road just south of I-696. Evergreen Road will be closed from Civic Center Drive to 11 Mile beginning at 6:30 p.m. Motorists can use Central Park Boulevard between Civic Center Drive and 11 Mile Road as a detour.

The festivities will include a special family-friendly presentation by the Radio Disney D-Tour complete with a live DJ and music, sing-a-longs, games and prizes. The evening will also include the Family Fun Area complete with inflatable playscapes, rock wall and extreme air jumpers, face painting, free popcorn and the "Got Milk" interactive display. There will also be police dog and hula dance demonstrations, skydivers and food available for purchase. The complete schedule follows:

7:00-7:30 p.m.    Police Dog demonstration by Southfield Police K-9 Unit
7:30-8:00 p.m.    Hula Dance demonstration by Northern Tropics Polynesian Dance Ensemble
8:00-8:40 p.m.    Welcome by Mayor Lawrence
                            Para Hawk Sky Diving Exhibition Team
                            Southfield Police & Fire Color Guard
                            National Anthem performed by members of the Southfield 
                            Field Zone Youth Ctr.
8:40-9:10 p.m.    Radio Disney Sing Along
9:10-10:10 p.m.  Radio Disney D-Tour Show

7:45-8:15 p.m.    Pre-recorded music
8:15-9:15 p.m.    The Gratitude Steel Band
9:30-10:10 p.m.   The Spirit of America Band

    The fireworks will begin at approximately 10:10 p.m.
