The city of
Southfield Fire Department will host an open house for the community on
Sunday, October 8 from 12 noon – 4:00 p.m. at Fire Headquarters,
located at 24477 Lahser Road.
The event coincides with National Fire Prevention Week (October 8-14,
2006) and will carry the theme, “prevent cooking fires, watch what you
heat,” which will address the frequency and dangers of fires that start
in the kitchen.
The program will
also feature multiple agency demonstrations including fire extinguisher
usage, vehicle extrications and simulated rescues along with photo
opportunities with fire department staff and equipment, free prizes,
educational materials and refreshments.
