Treasurer’s Financial Lecture Series begins April 21

Southfield City Treasurer Irv Lowenberg has partnered with Huntington National Bank to present the Treasurer’s Financial Lecture Series beginning on April 21 with “Your Money Matters” from 6 p.m.–7 p.m. and “Your Own Home” from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Southfield Public Library auditorium, located at 26300 Evergreen Road.

The complete schedule and topics are as follows:

· Tuesday, April 21: Your Money Matters – How to develop a budget and set financial goals, benefits of budgeting and budgeting tips. 6 – 7 p.m.

· Tuesday, April 21: Your Own Home – Renting vs. owning; home-buying readiness; homebuyer assistance programs; mortgage terminology; how much mortgage can you afford; shopping for the best deal. 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.

· Thursday, May 14: To Your Credit – The importance of credit; understanding credit reports; establishing/re-establishing/repairing credit; identity theft. 6 – 7:30 p.m.

· Tuesday, June 9: Pay Yourself First – Why you should save; tips on saving and growing your money; choosing an account; selecting savings and investment options. 6 – 7:30 p.m.
