City of Southfield 2009 picnic shelter reservations begin March 2

City of Southfield picnic shelter reservations will begin on Monday, March 2 at 7 a.m. in the Parks and Recreation building located at 26000 Evergreen in the Southfield Municipal Complex.

All shelter reservations must be made by Southfield residents (or business leisure card holders) on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the large turnout on the first day of reservations, residents will be given a number in room 115 of the P&R building where they will wait until their number is called. After March 2, residents may make reservations in person at the Southfield Parks & Recreation department Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Payment in full is required at time of booking and there are no refunds on shelter permits.

Picnic shelter areas may be reserved seven days a week from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Electricity is not available at picnic shelters and no alcohol is allowed. The park and its amenities are available to the public as well as picnic shelter permit holders; however, the picnic shelter is exclusive to the permit holder’s group. Picnic shelter reservations may be made for the following parks: Beech Woods Park Shelter, 22200 Beech Road - maximum shelter occupancy of 65 people (12 tables) $150/day; Civic Center Park, 26000 Evergreen Road - Maximum shelter occupancy of 100 people (15 tables) $200/day; and Pebble Creek Park, American Drive west of Franklin and north of 11 Mile Road - Maximum shelter occupancy of 150 people (18 tables) $275/day.

Call the Southfield Parks and Recreation Department at (248) 796-4613 for further information.
