Southfield Fire Department to host donor appreciation breakfast December 2

The city of Southfield Fire Department will hold an appreciation breakfast for donors that contributed to the department’s antique fire truck restoration on Tuesday, December 2 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Fire Department headquarters, 24477 Lahser Road between 9 and 10 Mile Roads.

The breakfast will honor local businesses and volunteers that contributed to the restoration of the department’s 1949 L-Series Mack fire truck. Purchased in the 1960’s, the vehicle is the oldest in Southfield’s fleet and still used for ceremonial functions at city events such as transporting Santa Claus to Southfield’s Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 8. Representatives from BASF, Federal Industrial Services, Joe Panian Chevrolet and various other businesses that donated goods or services will be recognized for their contributions to the restoration project.

For more information, contact Joe Dell, fire department training division captain, at (248) 796-5607.
