Southfield Veterans’ Commission seeking families of fallen Vietnam veterans

The Southfield Veterans’ Commission is seeking family members of several Southfield soldiers that were killed in the line of duty while serving their country in Vietnam. A new plaque will be dedicated at the Southfield Veterans’ Memorial Garden as part of the City’s annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony on November 10. A similar plaque was dedicated in 1968 to honor five Southfield soldiers that were killed in Vietnam. The new memorial plaque will honor seven additional soldiers that perished following the original plaque dedication.

The Southfield Veterans’ Commission would like to recognize any family members of the following fallen soldiers: Gary R. Berg, David G. Campbell, William J. Francis, Lewis M. Forman, Everett R. Matarazzo, Jeffery W. Pohjola, and Glen R. Urquhart, Jr. Any relatives of these seven soldiers are asked to contact the Southfield Veterans’ Commission at (248) 796-4838 or southfieldvets@cityofsouthfield.com to be recognized at the Southfield Veterans’ Day Ceremony on Monday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at City Hall, 26000 Evergreen Road.
