Southfield celebrates 50th anniversary with “A Grand Night for Singing”

Millennium Centre will host Rodgers and Hammerstein’s revue in newly renovated theatre

The Millennium Centre Theatre, in association with Off-Broadway Productions, will present “A Grand Night for Singing” on Saturday, September 27 at the Millennium, located at 15600 J.L. Hudson Drive in Southfield.

The show will feature a Broadway Revue of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s greatest music over the last 50 years as part of the City of Southfield’s 50th Anniversary. “A Grand Night for Singing will be an evening for all ages,” said Frank Brock, executive director for the Cornerstone Development Authority. “The ensemble cast will take concert-goers on a musical journey through some of the most memorable music to ever grace the stage.”

Songs featured will include well-known titles like Carousel, Oklahoma!, The King & I, South Pacific and The Sound of Music, along with lesser-known works like Allegro, Flower Drum Song, State Fair, and Pipe Dream. The performances will be accompanied by a full orchestra and vocal talent on loan from the Michigan Opera Theatre.

“We’re putting together some outstanding special effects,” said John LaCroix, technical director for the Millennium Centre Theatre. “The audience will be wowed, and surprised at what this intimate theatre can do.”

Tickets are $15.00 and can be purchased by calling the Millennium Centre Theatre box office at (248) 796-5193 or online at www.millenniumboxoffice.com. Tickets are also available at all Ticketmaster outlets.
