Beech Road between Shiawassee and Rougewood will be closed Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14 due to the release of cooling oil from a stolen transformer.
“Thieves stole a transformer and dumped approximately 350 gallons of cooling oil in a parking lot to lighten their load,” stated Southfield Fire Chief Peter Healy. “The oil ran off into the Evans Branch of the Rouge River; however, preliminary tests indicate no presence of PCP’s. At this time, we do not believe there is any apparent health hazard to the public. The situation is presently contained and the cleanup should be completed within two days.”
