The city of
Southfield will host the annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony on Thursday,
November 9 at 11:00 a.m. on the front steps of City Hall, 26000
Evergreen Road.
The City sponsors
the annual event in partnership with the Southfield Veterans’
Organization to honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of
military personnel. The ceremony will include opening remarks by Mayor
Brenda L. Lawrence; keynote address by Directorate Hubert Hess, State
of Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs; performances
by the Southfield Levey Middle School Band; presentation of colors by
the Southfield Veterans’ Organization and the Southfield Fire
Department Veterans; and the “Citizen of the Year” award presentation
to Bernard Feldman.
The event is free
and open to the public. Light refreshments will follow in City Hall.
City Cable 15 will replay the program November 9 at 8:30 p.m.; November
10 at 9 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and November 11 and 12 at 12:30
