Mayor Brenda Lawrence’s appointment of new City Assessor Sherry Lee was confirmed at the November 13 City Council meeting.
Ms. Lee previously
served as an appointed judge of the Michigan Tax Tribunal following a
post as city assessor for the city of Birmingham. Prior to that, Lee
served as chief assessor on Detroit’s Board of Assessors. Lee is a
Level IV assessor, a certified assessment evaluator and a Michigan
certified general appraiser. The city assessor is responsible for
verifying Southfield's tax roll of over $4 billion by evaluating
properties for the purpose of calculating property taxes. Lee is
expected to begin on December 4, 2006.
