The city of Southfield will commemorate Memorial Day on Friday, May 23 at 9 a.m. on the front steps of Southfield City Hall, 26000 Evergreen Road.
The program will include remarks from Mayor Brenda L. Lawrence and Brigadier General Carol Ann Fausone (retired), Assistant Adjutant General for Veterans’ Affairs, Michigan Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs. The ceremony will also include a presentation of colors; 21-Gun Salute; Southfield High School Choir performance; and the playing of "Taps." Light refreshments will be available in City Hall following the ceremony.
Southfield City Cable 15 will replay the ceremony on May 23 at 8 p.m., May 24 and 25 at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and May 26 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The program is sponsored by the city of Southfield and the Southfield Veterans' Organization. The veterans’ organization consists of AMVETS, Jewish War Veterans (JWV), Women's Army Corps, and the American Legion.
