The south parking lot at the Southfield Municipal Complex will reopen for full public use on Monday, April 28, 2008.
This new and improved lot features one of the first and largest installations of porous pavement at a municipal facility in the state of Michigan. The new lot was designed and constructed utilizing new technology and materials that make it more environmentally-friendly. Storm water runoff will be reduced by one-third and a bioswale will filter storm water runoff before it reaches streams and other waterways. This approach will not only help to protect the environment, but also to reduce the impact upon the immediate habitat. The new parking lot is also more pedestrian friendly with improved traffic circulation and increased handicap accessibility.
