Over the next several weeks beginning on Monday, April 28 City of Southfield Water Department crews will be flushing water mains throughout the City. The water department will be using fire hydrants to flush water mains in order to maintain the high quality of drinking water delivered to your home and to reduce maintenance costs by prolonging the life of the distribution pipes.
During the flushing program your water may become discolored or cloudy. This is only a short term inconvenience and the water will remain safe; however, you should avoid doing laundry or using hot water should you notice any discoloration. You can check your water by running any cold tap.
