Accounting Aid Society to provide free income tax preparation for low-income residents

The city of Southfield is pleased to announce that beginning on Wednesday, February 7, volunteers from the Accounting Aid Society will provide free assistance with income tax preparation for eligible low-income Southfield residents.

The service is available to residents whose annual income is $20,000 or less for individuals; and $39,000 or less for families. Service is by appointment only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, February 7 – March 28, 2007 at the Southfield Human Services Department, located at 26080 Berg Road. To make an appointment, call the Human Services Department at (248) 796-4540.

A Homebound Tax program (mail-in service) for seniors and those physically unable to visit the tax site is also available. For more information, please call the Accounting Aid Society at (313) 647-9620.

Additional tax services are available for Southfield seniors at McDonnell Towers from February 6 – April 10. For more information, please call (248) 796-4650.
