Southfield to provide free income tax preparation assistance for low-income residents

(SOUTHFIELD, Mich.) – The city of Southfield and volunteers from the Accounting Aid Society will provide free income tax preparation assistance for low-income Southfield residents every Wednesday, February 6 – April 9, between 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Southfield Human Services Department, located at 26080 Berg Road.

The service is available by appointment only to residents whose annual income is $20,000 or less for individuals, $40,000 or less for families. A Homebound Tax program (mail-in service) is also available to seniors and the physically handicapped who are unable to visit the tax site. Additional tax services are available for Southfield seniors at McDonnell Towers from February 4 – March 17. Call the Southfield Human Services Department at (248) 796-4540 to schedule an appointment. Call the Accounting Aid Society at (313) 647-9620 for further information regarding the Homebound Tax Program.
