(SOUTHFIELD, Mich.) – The city of Southfield recently signed an official cooperation agreement with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) with the goal of encouraging collaboration to promote economic development and create jobs.
The agreement formalizes an already existing partnership between Southfield and the MEDC, and is an informal contract that ensures collaboration between Southfield and the MEDC in implementing economic development strategies designed to promote economic growth and to maintain a high quality of life within the region.
Created in 1999 by an Inter-local Agreement executed by local economic development corporations under Public Act 338 of 1974, the MEDC has signed partnerships with 134 economic development organizations, educational institutions, businesses and communities across the state. There is no cost involved in becoming an MEDC partner. Visit www.themedc.org to obtain more information on MEDC initiatives and programs and a complete list of corporate and inter-local partners.
