The City of
Southfield, in association with the American Heart and American Stroke
Associations, will host the “Power to End Stroke” program on Tuesday,
January 30 from 12 noon – 2:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers and
main lobby of City Hall, 26000 Evergreen Road.
The free program
is part of a national campaign designed to raise awareness about stroke
and heart disease through various screenings, literature and
presentations. The event will feature free blood and cholesterol
screenings, stroke and heart health literature, information about
American Heart Association programs and services, and refreshments.
City Council President Sylvia Jordan and stroke survivor Gladys Johnson
will share stories and anecdotes relating to healthy living and stroke
survival. The American Heart Association’s Soul Food Cookbook will be
given to the first 25 guests.
