City of Southfield commemorates Memorial Day May 25

(SOUTHFIELD, Mich.) - The city of Southfield will commemorate Memorial Day on Friday, May 25 at 9 a.m. on the front steps of Southfield City Hall, 26000 Evergreen Road.

The program will include remarks from Mayor Brenda L. Lawrence and Colonel James Anderson, Assistant Adjutant General for Michigan Army National Guard. The ceremony will also include a choral presentation; a presentation of colors; 21-Gun Salute; and the playing of 'Taps.' Light refreshments will be available in City Hall following the ceremony.

The program is sponsored by the city of Southfield and the Southfield Veterans' Organization. The organization consists of AMVETS, Jewish War Veterans (JWV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Women's Army Corps Veterans Association, and the 1279th Combat Engineers Battalion.
