Adopt-A-Park
Your business or organization can contribute to the community by joining our Adopt-A-Park program. Help improve the environment through cleanups four times each season. There are numerous ways that you can work with the Southfield Parks & Recreation Department to advertise your business or organization. From co-sponsorships of concert series and select special events to dasher board ads at the Southfield Sports Arena ice rink. Southfield Sports Arena
A multi-use complex with a regulation NHL ice surface and an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool, the Southfield Sports Arena has year-round activity for everyone. The Arena is home of the Southfield Hockey Club, Southfield Over 30’s League, the Lawrence Technological University Hockey Team, and the Annual Red Wings Alumni Game. The Arena also hosts special events throughout the year including Family Swim Parties and Holiday Skates. With well over 300,000 visitors per year, your sponsorship is sure to get noticed.

Gold Sponsor — $10,000

As a Gold Sponsor, your sponsor name will be displayed on the Zamboni Ice Re-Surfacer for one ice season; two 3’ x 5’ dasher boards ads, one facing stands, one facing players benches for one ice season; and one 3’ x 5’ sponsor banner displayed June-August at the outdoor pool and September-May in the ice arena.

Silver Sponsor—$5, 000
Silver Sponsors receive two 3’ x 5’ dasher boards ads, one facing stands, one facing players benches for one ice season, and a 3’ x 5’ sponsor banner displayed June-August at the outdoor pool and September-May in the ice arena.

Bronze Sponsor—$3, 000

Beech Woods Recreation Center
Located inside the Beech Woods Park, Beech Woods Recreation Center features over 17,000 square feet of gymnasium space. The Center has the capability to run three collegiate basketball games simultaneously in addition to four volleyball or tennis courts, indoor golf nets, and a complete wellness/fitness center. There are also two conference rooms available for rental for business or neighborhood meetings. Beech Woods is currently the home of the Southfield Youth Basketball League, Beech Woods Wellness Center, Oakland County Senior Bounce Volleyball League, Junior Michigan Thunderbirds Wheelchair Basketball team, Wheelchair Hockey League, United Auto Workers Basketball League, Junior NBA League, Optimist TriStar events, walking club, numerous aerobic classes, karate, yoga, golf and tennis lessons, volleyball, health and wellness seminars, and youth and adult open gyms.

Gold Sponsor — $15,000
Gold Sponsors receive a 5’ x 8’ sponsor banner displayed at the Beech Woods Recreation Center for one calendar year; renaming of the Southfield Youth Basketball league to include sponsor’s name; sponsor name on Walking Club, Wellness Center, and Youth Basketball League t-shirts; sponsor’s name included in the Parks and Recreation Department’s Activities Brochure reaching over 35,000 Southfield homes and businesses; and a sponsor recognition plaque.

Silver Sponsor — $5,000

Silver Sponsors receive a 3’ x 5’ sponsor banner displayed at Beech Woods Recreation Center for one calendar year; the sponsor’s name included on a minimum of one youth basketball team’s uniform for one fall and one winter season; and a sponsor recognition plaque. Back to top

Gazebo Concert Series
Held each year at the Gazebo at the Burgh Historical Park, these concerts have become a staple of the summer season, not only for Southfield, but for Oakland County. Each series consists of eight Wednesday evening concerts beginning in late June or early July until the end of August with each concert boasting over 250 attendees.

Sponsorship benefitds include: the renaming of Gazebo Concert Series to include sponsor name (i.e. Company ABC Gazebo Summer Concert Series) and inclusion in all advertising of the series including flyers, press releases, as well as in the Parks & Recreation Department’s Activities Brochure (reaching over 35,000 Southfield homes and businesses); if applicable, sponsor set up information/product booth at every concert; and a sponsor recognition plaque. Special Events
Sponsorship rates are for individual events.
Daddy/Daughter Dinner & Dance: Special night of dinner and dancing for Dad and his favorite young lady (or ladies). Couples receive a special photo memento and a flower. Over 1,000 participants attend this event held in January at the Southfield Pavilion. Sponsorship deadline: June 30.
EGGS'travaganza: Typically scheduled two Saturdays before the Easter holiday, this event features games, an egg hunt and crafts. An average of 400 residents attend this event. Sponsorship deadline: January 31.
Boo at the Burgh: A two-night event held at the Burgh Historical Park that features hay rides through the haunted forest, trick- or-treating, and a children’s activity tent. This relatively new event has averaged 1,000 people in its first 2 years. Sponsorship Deadline: June 30.

Gold Sponsor — $3,000
Sponsorship benefitds include: the renaming of the event (for that year) to include sponsor’s name (i.e. ABC Company Special Event) and inclusion in all advertising of the event including all program flyers, press releases as well as in the Parks & Recreation Activities Brochure (reaching over 35,000 Southfield homes and businesses). Gold Sponsors will also receive a board at the event recognizing sponsorship and a sponsor recognition plaque.
Silver Sponsor — $1,000
Silver Sponsors will be included in all advertising for the event including all press releases and program flyers as an event sponsor. Silver Sponsors will also receive a sponsor board at the event recognizing their sponsorship and a sponsor recognition plaque. Back to top

Tree Dedication
For a contribution of $1,500, a tree (selected and planted in accordance with Southfield Parks & Recreation Master Plan) can be dedicated to honor a person or event. The donor will receive a letter of appreciation with a photograph of the dedicated tree and a map of its exact location. A permanent bronze plaque (approximately 5” x 10”) will also be installed flush with the ground to identify the tree and to display the desired recognition. Back to top

Bench Dedication
Memorial benches may be purchased for $2,000 in recognition of an individual, organization, or event. A bench (design of which will be selected in accordance with the Southfield Parks & Recreation Master Plan) will be placed and installed with a bronze plaque to display the desired recognition. The donor will also receive a letter of appreciation with a photograph of the dedicated bench and a map of its exact location. Back to top

 

Did You Know?

  • The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for 780 acres of park land and open space at 33 sites throughout the City. Of the 780 acres of park land, over 333 acres are dedicated nature preserves.

  • The City of Southfield is home of Michigan’s first baseball field for children with any physical or mental disability. Working with The Miracle League, the City constructed a special field designed with a custom synthetic turf and handicapped accessible dugouts, restrooms and drinking fountains.
  • The Parks & Recreation Department offers hundreds of recreation programs at facilities which include two nine-hole golf courses, a lighted driving range, a 50-meter outdoor swimming pool, a senior adult center, an indoor athletic field house, an indoor ice arena and a neighborhood recreation center.

  • The Senior Gardens at the Mary Thompson Farm provide plots to over 100 enthusiastic gardeners who offer tours to school and scouting groups. The Senior Gardens have been recognized as one of the best community gardens in the nation by the John Deere Company and have received numerous awards from the Michigan State Fair.
