Outreach

A licensed and certified social worker specializing in critical support and outreach services is available through the Human Services Department and free of charge to Southfield residents. Available services include:

  • Direct assistance and/or referrals for residents and other area social services professionals in need of support services and other resources, including: referrals for food, clothing, housing and emergency financial assistance. Income eligibility qualifications may apply.
  • Coordination of special programs for Southfield residents, such as holiday assistance (including Southfield Goodfellows activities), The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW) and Focus Hope.
  • Coordination of services with various organizations, hospitals, etc. through a monthly Human Services Providers Meeting to maximize the efficiency of all providers.

  • Effective March 2009, the Human Services Department has temporarily relocated to the Parks & Recreation Building (lower level with Emergency Management) at 26000 Evergreen Road at Civic Center Drive.
