The Freedom of Information Act gives citizens the right of access to most public records so that they can better participate in governmental activities in the democratic process.

All Freedom of Information Act requests must be made in writing and submitted to the City Clerk’s Office. Download the Freedom of Information Request Form (pdf) or visit the City Clerk’s Office.
 

Did You Know?

  • You can apply for a U.S. Passport at the City Clerk’s Office

  • All U.S. citizens traveling by air to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Bermuda, are required to have a U.S. Passport Book. 

  • On June 1, 2009, the requirement for a passport will be extended to include all land and sea travel as well.  A Passport Card is a valid form of identification in addition to a U.S. Passport Book.

  • You can obtain certified copies of birth records (Southfield births only) from the City Clerk’s Office

  • The election cycle for 2010 includes: Gubernatorial Primary Election, August 3, 2010; Gubernatorial General Election, November 2, 2010
