Government

Probation

Community Service

To the Defendant:

Your sentence includes the opportunity for community service. This means that:

  1. It is your responsibility to locate a charity or government to do work for.
  2. It is your responsibility within 2 weeks of today to get prior approval from the District Court Probation Department for the particular job that you wish to do for a specific charity or governmental agency.
  3. You will provide the Community Service Coordinator, (248) 796-5858, with the name, complete address, telephone number and point of contact of the agency you wish to do your community service with. Paperwork showing the number of hours required will be forwarded to the agency.
  4. It is your job to perform the work.
  5. It is your job to insure that written verification is sent back to the Probation Department after completion of required number of hours.

In the past there have been defendants who have been hired by the Community Service Agency because their work was done very well. Others have received jobs based on the letters of reference they received from the Community Service Agency.

Unfortunately, there are also those who somehow prefer jail. It’s your choice!
