Government

Boards & Commissions

Southfield’s municipal boards and commissions are comprised of concerned residents and business people who volunteer to assist the operation of city government and the Southfield community.

Boards and commissions members, appointed by the Mayor and/or City Council, represent more than 150 civic-minded individuals who donate their time and expertise for Southfield’s betterment. Some decide appeals on the strict application of city codes and ordinances; others assist departments by providing direction and establishing policy; and still others examine a variety of issues and formulate recommendations to City Council.

The City Clerk’s office has applications for individuals interested in serving on a municipal board or commission. To obtain one, call (248) 796-5150; or visit the City Clerk’s office on the main level of City Hall at the Municipal Complex. You also may download an application (pdf).

Following is an alphabetic list of all boards and commissions (pdf) and a brief summary of their activities.
