Rental Opportunities

All potential rentals must submit a security deposit along with their completed Room Rental Application. All reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis following security deposit and application approval (usually three business days following application submission). Full rental fee must be paid 30 days prior to the scheduled date (failure to pay on time will result in the loss of your rental date and your security deposit).

Room Rental Applications are available at the front desks of the Parks & Recreation Building (26000 Evergreen Rd.) and the Beech Woods Recreation Center (22200 Beech Rd.) during regular business hours, or may be downloaded below. Rental Applications for the Burgh Historical Park are only available on-site.

Southfield Pavilion
The Southfield Pavilion, located within the Southfield Municipal Complex at 26000 Evergreen Road, is metro Detroit's premier exposition center. The Pavilion has hosted conferences for over 2,000 people and trade shows featuring close to 200 exhibition booths. Break out space is also available in seven additional rooms located in the Parks & Recreation Building. Free parking for over 1,000 vehicles, as well as quick access to major area freeways such as M-10 (Lodge), I-696 and the Southfield Freeway, make it easy for your attendees to find your event.

Parks & Recreation Building
The Parks & Recreation Building can host events from 12 to 225 people in the seven available rooms. Teleconferencing and audio visual capabilities are available for business meetings. The multi-purpose room features a stage, large projection screen and access to a kitchen. For all other groups, a list is available of area caterers or you may bring in your own food service. Rooms are available for rent Sunday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Picnic Shelters
Groups may reserve picnic areas at Civic Center Park, Beech Woods Park, and Pebble Creek Park through October. Reservations must be made by Southfield residents in person at the Parks & Recreation offices between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Please call (248) 796-4620 for more information.

  • Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and must be made by a Southfield resident or Business Leisure Card holder.
  • Payment in full is required at time of booking.
  • The picnic area may be reserved from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
  • There are no refunds on shelter permits.
  • The park and its amenities are available to the public as well as picnic permit holders. However, the picnic shelter is exclusive to the permit holder’s group.
  • Electricity is not available at picnic shelters.
  • No alcohol is allowed.
  • Permit holder will be billed for any damage incurred during your outing.
  • Inflatables (moonwalks, etc.) and tents are allowed by permit only ($25/item). Permit holders must also produce Proof of Insurance, naming the City of Southfield as additional insured, in a minimum amount of $1 million.

Burgh Historical Park Weddings/Rentals
Come see how your next event can be “Better at the Burgh.” Available for outdoor and indoor events, the Burgh Historical Park offers a unique venue for your wedding, graduation party, family reunion, Bar or Bat Mitzvah or retirement party. The renovated turn-of-the-century buildings nestled within the beautiful manicured lawn and abundant flower gardens offer privacy and a retreat from the bustle of the city.

The picturesque Gazebo is the perfect site for weddings and other important social occasions. There is adequate room for a tent for an outdoor reception as well as a parking lot and additional lawn parking. If you desire an indoor reception, room for up to 50 people may be reserved within the 1854/56 Methodist Church or 1938 Church Annex. Rental Opportunities at the Burgh Historical Park are available in the following options:

  • Gazebo Rentals include a 2 ½-hour site rental along with white chairs set up and removed by staff, access to the air-conditioned 1938 Church Annex (along with indoor restroom), power in the Gazebo and a table set up for Disc Jockey use.
  • Reception Rentals include the Gazebo Rental amenities as well as an additional 3 hours, fifteen 5-foot diameter tables and six 6-foot banquet tables.
  • Site Rentals (for receptions only) include a 3-hour site rental along with fifteen 5-foot tables and six 6-foot banquet tables. Chairs are available at an additional cost.

Beech Woods Recreation Center
The Beech Woods Recreation Center is located at 22200 Beech Road, south of Nine Mile Road. The recreation center has over 17,000 square feet of gymnasium space with the capability to run three collegiate basketball games simultaneously, four volleyball or tennis courts, including golf nets, and a complete wellness/fitness center. There are also two conference rooms available for rental for business or neighborhood meetings. Basketball Courts There are 3 basketball courts available for $40-$60 per hour depending on number of hours and courts.
Volleyball Courts There are 4 volleyball courts available for $30-$50 per hour depending on the total number of hours and courts.
Room Rentals There are 2 conference rooms available for rental for $50-$75 per hour with a 3 hour minimum. Rooms can accommodate up to 80 people with a banquet style setup.


Southfield Sports Arena
Looking for a unique way to celebrate a birthday?? The Southfield Sports Arena features an Olympic-sized pool and kiddie pool for summer recreation and a full-size ice rink for fun in the cold months. Outdoor Pool (June through August)
Southfield Sports Arena Pool is available Saturday and Sunday evenings after 6:00 pm or Sundays throughout the month of August for your child’s graduation party or family gathering. Prices range from $200 to $300 per hour and are sold in hour increments only. The wading/ kiddie pool is available for private birthday parties for children (8 and under) for $75 per hour. The Lobby, without the pool, can also be rented at a rate of $125 per hour. For more information please call (248) 796-4640.

Indoor Ice Arena (Oct. through March)
Have an ice skating party at the Southfield Sports Arena!!! The rink is available Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons (October through March) from 2:30-4:30 p.m. for group party rentals. For $5 per child (this includes skate rental) you can enjoy over an hour of ice skating fun. The lobby, with its large fireplace, makes a great party room. Please call (248) 796-4640 to schedule your party today. NOTE: Our skate sizes are limited so we will do the best we can to fit everyone in your party.

Athletic Fields & Courts
Southfield has a number of baseball/softball fields, sand volleyball courts, soccer fields and tennis courts that can be reserved for group activities. Proof of Liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 must be provided that names the City of Southfield as additional insured. John Grace Community Center
The John Grace Community Center is located at 21030 Indian Street (south of Shiawassee Road), on the southwestern side of the city. With a dedicated surrounding neighborhood, this community center thrives with after-school and weekend activity. Did You Know?

  • The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for 780 acres of park land and open space at 33 sites throughout the City. Of the 780 acres of park land, over 333 acres are dedicated nature preserves.

  • The City of Southfield is home of Michigan’s first baseball field for children with any physical or mental disability. Working with The Miracle League, the City constructed a special field designed with a custom synthetic turf and handicapped accessible dugouts, restrooms and drinking fountains.
  • The Parks & Recreation Department offers hundreds of recreation programs at facilities which include two nine-hole golf courses, a lighted driving range, a 50-meter outdoor swimming pool, a senior adult center, an indoor athletic field house, an indoor ice arena and a neighborhood recreation center.

  • The Senior Gardens at the Mary Thompson Farm provide plots to over 100 enthusiastic gardeners who offer tours to school and scouting groups. The Senior Gardens have been recognized as one of the best community gardens in the nation by the John Deere Company and have received numerous awards from the Michigan State Fair.
