Southfield has a number of baseball/softball fields, sand volleyball courts, soccer fields and tennis courts that can be reserved for group activities. Proof of Liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 must be provided that names the City of Southfield as additional insured. For more information please contact Chris Riley (criley@cityofsouthfield.com) or (248) 796-4670, with the date, time and field you would like to reserve. Rental applications for baseball/softball fields, sand volleyball courts and soccer fields can be downloaded in pdf format and faxed to Chris Riley at (248) 796-4675 for approval.

 QuickTime Virtual Reality (VR)

Facility rental opportunities can now be easily viewed in QuickTime Virtual Reality (VR). Using QuickTime VR, you can view a site as if you were standing there. It's easy to use, just move your mouse over the pictures to click and drag around the QuickTime VR movie and you will get a 360 degree view of the facility.

  • The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for over 780 acres of park land and open spaces at 33 sites throughout the City, including 333 acres of dedicated nature preserves.
  • The Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve won a 2010 Park Design Award from the Michigan Recreation and Park Association.
  • The City of Southfield is the home of Michigan’s first baseball field for children with any physical or mental disability. Working with The Miracle League, the City constructed a special field designed with a custom synthetic turf and handicapped accessible dugouts, restrooms and drinking fountains.
  • The Parks & Recreation Department offers a large variety of recreation programs at facilities which include two nine-hole golf courses, a lighted driving range, a 50-meter outdoor swimming pool, a senior adult center, an indoor athletic field house, an indoor ice arena and a neighborhood recreation center.
