Where can I get free legal aid?
A free 15-20-minute consultation is available by appointment only on some Tuesdays from 6:15-7:30 p.m. & some Fridays from 9:00-10:00 a.m., courtesy of volunteer attorneys. To register, call (248) 796-4540. Back to top

Weren't you called Human Resources previously?
Yes, many years ago. Since then, we have been known as Human Services, to prevent any confusion with companies who use the "Human Resources" term to mean Personnel Department. Back to top

What kind of services do you provide?
Information and referral services for people in need of food, shelter, clothing and medicine; free legal aid service; and counseling services; administration of a few special programs, such as Focus: HOPE food for senior adults and the Southfield Goodfellows application process. Back to top

My utilities are going to be shut off for non-payment. Can you help me?
During the winter months, our department is a screening site for the THAW Fund (The Heat and Warmth Fund). During other months, we provide referral information to sources able to assist, call (248) 796-4546. Back to top

How do I know if my child qualifies for a camp scholarship through Southfield Youth Assistance Commission?
Contact Southfield Youth Assistance Commission, (248) 746-7659, in the early spring of the year. Children and families qualify for scholarships based on financial need and other circumstances. Back to top
