Cornerstone Development

District Boundaries
Cornerstone signThe Cornerstone District is approximately one square mile in size. Its boundaries are Mt. Vernon Road (9 1/2 Mile) to the north, Eight Mile Road to the south, Greenfield Road to the east, and Southfield Road to the west.

In 1999, the Cornerstone District Authority(CDA) commissioned a master plan study of the Cornerstone District. The master plan is a tool to help generate ideas for the development community regarding the overall potential of the district. The main master plan outlines the direction that the CDA board of directors has focused on. In addition, two alternative plans were generated to document a broader range of possibilities. All three documents are available here for review in Adobe Acrobat Format.

 

Did You Know?

  • That the Cornerstone District is home to Northland Shopping Center. Northland was the first large shopping center built in the region.

  • That the Cornerstone District is home to Providence Hospital. It's the only hospital around named a Top 100 Heart Hospital in the nation six years in a row.

  • That Northland Mall is over 1.7 million square feet in size and there are currently 122 stores. 

  • That the Cornerstone District is home to over 700 business and service organizations, including IBM, Guardian Alarm, Target, Macy’s, Kroger, Panera, Pizza Papalis, Outback Steakhouse, SBC and Fox 2 news.

  • Panera Bread, located in the Village at Cornerstone shopping plaza, offers free wireless internet access to all patrons.
